ESL Teacher, Teacher Trainer, and Author
Hi, welcome to my website. I have been an educator for more than thirty years, starting with my first job as a French teacher in England. After moving to the United States, I spent ten years as an adult education and literacy instructor and have been involved in ESL/EFL education at university level for the last eighteen years. I served as the Director of the Intensive English Program at West Virginia University from 1996-2006 and spent the 2006-07 academic year conducting teacher training in Mexico as a Fulbright Scholar. I am currently a Senior English Language Fellow at the Ministry of Education and Training in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Through the years, I have taught students from all over the world, trained both native and non-native teachers, and administered a variety of ESL/EFL programs for specific groups of English learners. I have also presented at numerous international conferences and have published a variety of articles in textbooks and journals. Recent publications include a textbook, Essential Academic Vocabulary (Thomson/Heinle) and units written for a three-level series, Panorama Listening (Oxford University Press).
More detailed information about my professional life can be found by exploring the menu on the right.
Feel free to email me personally or to participate in the public discussion of EFL/ESL topics.
